Trauma and Grief Therapy for First Responders, their families and the community
In-person therapy in Woodbury, MN
Telehealth therapy offered throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Florida
The world is a complex place, life seems to be more complicated than it once did. Maybe you have become numb to the chaos and unpredictability around you.
When you experience trauma and grief feeling “normal” seems like a difficult task. It's common for you to carry these burdens silently, adopting coping mechanisms that may not serve you or others around you well in the long run.
When individuals and couples reach out for therapy they are experiencing feelings of defeat, burnout, numbness, and often stuck in the same loop wondering when things will get better. After engaging in therapy, you will learn to develop effective coping strategies, gain a deeper understanding of your symptoms, and work towards leading fulfilling lives with healthier relationships.
Therapy is your decision to take charge of your life.
You are here, you no longer need to carry these burdens alone - it’s okay to ask for help.
Hi - I’m Kay!
I’m glad you found me. I’m here to help.
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Florida - meaning I can see anyone residing in these states through telehealth. I provide in-person therapy at my office in Woodbury, MN. I utilize a collaborative, trauma-informed, relational approach to therapy. I know that each person’s experience is unique to them.
I see both first responders and non-first responders in my practice. I fully believe that the most important element of good therapy is the match between client and therapist.
As your therapist you can expect a person who is interested in “getting you”. I bring a straightforward and real-life approach to building tools and insight to help with the hard stuff. My approach to therapy is to be laid-back minus the fluff, you-centered, and actively engaged.
As you know, life is set up to celebrate our achievements and successes which leaves little space for the hard, gritty stuff. My goal is to give you a place to talk about the hard stuff and appreciate the good stuff.
You can read more about me and my pal Banner on our “introduction” page.
Next Stepss
If you are ready to ditch the mental crud that weighs you down and are ready to live the life YOU want - I would love to help you, so let’s chat.
Set up a call - I prefer zoom for the initial consult, I think it is easier to put a face with the person you are talking to. This is a time where you can ask questions, discuss your goals, and I discuss my approach to therapy.
Begin therapy - we will meet for your initial intake. This first session is more structured - I get to know more about you and we more clearly define what you expect and need from your therapy experience.
Feel relief - have healthier relationships, improved mental health and improved physical health.
Let’s get to work!
